The problems of Krysyy, Aikar and how EMC is run.

  1. Oh, I totally agree that if what happened last night does happen again, the staff should lock it (although another thread will most likely pop up complaining about them doing so). I wasn't really to into what happened in Finch's thread though, but I also believe that that is another possibility for this thread.
  2. I'm not sure what the problem with having more feedback is?

Let's not turn this into a pointless debate of whether to lock it or not, since then the thread really should be locked.
  3. I think the thread is a little too harsh. However, both Burki's and Krysyy's comments are flawed and both are biased to a degree. Both need more evidence and specific examples to support their arguments. Judging from the reaction in the replies, I'm still siding with Burki. I do not have enough knowledge to be able to properly comment on this, but here's my opinion.

Burki: In terms of 1.14, it doesn't seem like there has been much progress. But because of the nature of the dev team or really any of the teams, they're volunteers and they have other things to do. But that doesn't mean there's not room for improvement. The size of the dev team seems to have gone down a good bit over time.

Krysyy: I understand your need to defend yourself, and that's fine. But you weren't blamed completely as Aikar was also mentioned, but you did take most of it. On the event thing. Yes, sometimes your job can be rough. But if you can't reliably host the events yourself, don't host it. People are going to be less annoyed if an event is canceled than if it's planned and the host doesn't show up.
Most of your defense is the stuff going on in your life. I get it. But I think there can be a middle ground. This is just a suggestion: the team could be changed to take some of the pressure off of you. Most people won't readily let go of the past until they see a tangible change. And if I'm being honest, it seems like you're trying to play the victim a little bit too much. If the members are so upset with you, getting the public more involved in the decision making on EMC could be a good option.

I think we need some more accountability, transparency, and perhaps a redistribution of power in the leadership. We don't absolutely need to replace Krysyy entirely, but I would see how adding some new members or restructuring some things would benefit the server.
  4. Each item you mentioned has been addressed in previous posts throughout this thread.
  5. I have plenty of evidence however its within my interests to keep the personal dispute away from this thread at the moment. Although our conversation has stalled at this point of time.
Its a little harsh to expect people to read through this thread now

  6. Sorry it's just all confusing. You started all this drama with pretty much an attack ad against 2 people, blamed them for everything, claimed to have more dirt on them and said you were leaving. No where in your OP did you mention anything about how to change things around here. Just hard to keep track of the story when the story keeps changing.

Thankfully the drama was sifted through enough to have some proper dialogue. Most of the 'wants' have been answered and the same questions are being asked after they were answered.

Better option is to lock this and start a new thread so people who have constructive criticisms can go there.
  7. Yes!

I hope that what I'm describing next is what you meant with this.

Please do indeed increase visibility about what you and SS (and developers) do! I must preface this with that it's of course easy to say from my side that more "updates" or "hey this is being done" would be great, but actually implementing this is much harder. Still, I think speaking more about things you and other SS/devs are doing behind the scenes would improve the percention people have of whether things are being done. It's hard to appreciate something that isn't seen, while many things that you guys do deserves appreciation - in my opinion that is.

For me personally this counts the most for senior staff. I see nearly zero action --> I thought that they were lazy and didn't add much. Some comments on this thread made me realise (again) that a lot of what they do is hidden, and I would like to more directly be able to appreciate their efforts. Perhaps this is just me, but I figured I'd add it here anyways.

  8. It seems to me that key staff have big workloads and that might be a bottleneck - specifically Krysyy's CM role and the dev's and the update work. Perhaps a solution is more delegation/division of duties to other staff and/or more staff?

Pretty consistent here is people wanting 1) the update and 2) more community events/promos/etc. Personally, I like the open events like chest hunts where the time zone is irrelevant.

Keeping any system in IT going over a long period of time gets difficult, things get more ad hoc and harder to manage as time goes on. I am happy that staff are committed to getting it right so our special items etc are safe.

(On the subject of beautification of the frontier, it is doable. I've put some time and resources into it on SMP7, just within 500 blocks or so of spawn points. Just taking down floating trees, patching creeper holes, planting trees etc makes a big difference).

  9. Having me spend more time reiterating everything I have already said to members is a waste of time better spent on actually implementing things suggested. So respectfully, I disagree. I've already spent the last 48+ hours on this. I'd like to actually move forward, as would quite a few community members.
  10. Front page ad for more staff is active now. Also in-game.
  11. Honestly that's why the thread ought to be closed, lol. I feel like we are going in loops now with the occasional nonsense thrown in.

  12. - Agreed

+1 on closing/locking this thread. The thread achieved what it was created to do:

If the rest is just personal attacks, with minimal to no substance based on the thread's main purpose for existing, then the conversation has ended at that point and this thread deserves to be closed/locked.....Perhaps make a "ranting thread" instead where you are free to spout off any issues you have with others?
  13. Ironic you mention that because most people don't have the time to be reading through 18 page forum threads, since we're on the subject of being busy and life. I'm sure this has used up a lot of your time though, and the personal attacks aren't ok. I'll read some of it when I have time.

EDIT: Could we possibly make a new thread with all the suggestions and other changes? That would be better than fighting over people reading through previous threads and whatnot. This is getting pretty unfocused and unproductive.
  14. You are more than welcome to do so. Staff will not necessarily respond as we have seen the suggestions here and made the appropriate comments. However, it would be a place for productive discussion between community members to take place and we can see that too, which is definitely a positive.
  15. A ranting thread would be quite appropriate.
However, I feel this thread is back on track and is no longer a ground for incessant arguing.
There is no need to lock this thread. It is achieving its purpose.
  16. I also think this thread shouldn't be deleted/locked.

Let it serve as an example. The purpose of the example might vary for different people, but for me, it is an example of thankfulness.

I should be thankful for our great staff team. They work hard.

If people are ungrateful...then too bad for them. Its this, or nothing. Empire as it is...or nothing at all. Be thankful for this server through the highs and lows. So who cares its on 1.12.2 still. At least its not on 1.1 or something.

If people are going to complain and nag staff members and tell them that they are doing a horrible job (which is pretty much I've been hinting through this thread, which is just NOT true!) then why have Empire?

The foundation of the Empire begins to shake.

Why can't we all just get along and be thankful for what we have?

Thank you Aikar and Krysyy for your years of service. Thank you staff members for doing your duty.

I praise you for your hard work and dedication. Will anyone else?

And, lets remember, this is Minecraft. We're supposed to be having fun. In my mind, Empire is a community. A haven for Minecraft masterminds.

But why are we all so unhappy? Why are we so ungrateful?

  17. I dont know what you've been through Kryssy, only heard rumors of it... But I'm sorry that it happened to you. I have quite a few issues with EMC in its current state, and have generally not had many direct encounters with you. I regret this since you seem like such a nice person (and your dogs are soooooo cute) but I have to admit you seem to have quite a few biases. As a community manager, you should be someone that I would know but after over a year I still feel almost like every interaction I have with you is dangerous to my continued well-being on EMC. This is largely because you seem an unknown entity. I get that things can happen and I get that you have work and other stuff, but if you were more active in the lovely community that is EMC, I dont think there would be so much for people to criticize you on. In fact, I was ready to jump down your throat for a while there because Burki was one of my favourite mods, but then I realised after reading this for around an hour that I dont know everything about how the processes of EMC work staff-wise. I hope that we can have lots of nice interactions in the future, but at the same time this thing with Burki leaves me quite disappointed in you and the staff team as a whole. Abviously some form of trust was breached, but was this really the necessary outcome?

  18. Only if you choose not to learn from it too. The words were harsh for sure, and obv leaked. My question, has your opinion of her changed since? This may have been asked, but I'm only on page 12 so far. Sorry if I fell behind.
  19. Really can't like this enough. Like seriously, this bucket fell off the rails pages ago and as much as I have enjoyed it for this evening, I don't think I can take much more.

I really can see both sides of the fence on the Kira issue. I understand what it is like to deal with frustrating players on here for sure, and I know my mouth, I woulda said something just like that (and have sooooo many times on private discord channels) like that out of frustration too. Say you wouldn't, you're lying...everyone talks smack, and most of the time...with pride, much like many of the unproductive posts on this turd of a thread. I do feel like an apology should be made, publicly-it would go a long way to smooth things over.
I also understand what it is like to be one of the annoying players. I'm sure Krysyy and many others have threatened my virtual life from time to time, and ya know what...I would love too look back and laugh at those comments, you betcha! I'm sure she hurled some steamy piles my way on the private staff messages. I'm also very sure that it was right for the moment, and trust me, I was returning the favor.
I really get the frustration of this post from jump tho, and I have to say that maybe it is time for there to be consideration made to making a member of each SMP a Community Assistant manager, that would report to Krysyy, Aikar and SS. This might go a long way to promote pride in SMP's again and smooth out some of the issues that have been correctly addressed in many of the active threads. This could help with delegation of menial tasks as well.
