  1. Lately been finding more and more NFL fans on the Empire, so I thought it was time we had a thread to discuss it! Use this thread to discuss ongoing events in football, commiserate with fellow players used to perpetual disappointment, or celebrate the occasional victory.

Be sure to let everyone know what team you're a fan of! And remember... be nice (looking at you, you battery-throwing, Santa-booing fans of a certain team).

  2. I am a rabid Buccaneers fan, for those who don't know. As I have already given up on playoff hopes (as per usual), here's my wishlist for the rest of the season:
    1. Bucs dump Winston and draft a rookie QB in the first round
    2. Patriots get knocked out of the playoffs BEFORE the Super Bowl
    3. Cam Newton permanently loses his starting job... hate that guy
    4. Seahawks, Ravens, or Saints win the Super Bowl (in that order of preference)
In other news, while I doubt most of you care much for the Bucs/Panthers game in London right now (which is counted as a home game for the Bucs... we won't be seeing home for a seven week stretch... ridiculous scheduling... side rant over), there was a play in the game that has only been performed five times total in my lifetime. Fair catch free kick... fascinating to see for anyone who caught it.

Link for those wondering about the fair catch free kick

Also: who here is excited for the Tank Bowl today! Dolphins vs. Redskins promises to be a duel of epic proportions.

  3. I'm a Atlanta Falcons fan!
  4. haha first 3 responses and we're all NFC south "Rivals"! I'm a HUGE New Orleans Saints Fan! #WhoDat Idk why but the saints are an underdog today against the Jaguars according to betting sites lol
  5. I haven't really had a team since Manning left the Colts. Sure I rooted for the Broncos a bit when Manning played for them. A few years ago I got a customs Buccaneers Jersey that says Tower on the back mostly cause I like the colors and the buccaneers designs.

  6. American Football doesn't interest me, but Hashhog does! ;) Also, the 'fair catch kick' article was intriguing, actually. :)
  7. Steelers. Sad time to be a Steeler fan tho

  8. I don't really have a team tbh.

Football isn't really just my sport. (Either that or the Cowboys have made me so depressed that I can no longer watch football.)

I prefer motorsports and hockey :p If I really had to pick a team it'd be New Orleans. Of course, living in DFW means that I must gravely insult anybody who is an Eagles fan.
  9. No way. They could have very easily been 5-1 right now had a bounce or 2 gone differently. Given the injuries, I think that they are doing better then most thought. No one expects much, no pressure, just football.

  10. You guys are actually looking super solid; picked you to win last night and was pleased to see the upset. All things considered, I've been very impressed with how well the Steelers keep trucking along despite injuries. Props to your back-up QBs... if you don't manage to turn it around and snag a wildcard this year (which I don't at all think is impossible), I think you'll definitely be able to hop back into the playoffs next year.

  11. This be true but I feel we can pick up ourselves after the losses and losing Big Ben and Rudolph to injuries.
  12. Can't believe the Mahomes play! What a crazy call to do and the result... dislocated knee cap

  13. I know for a fact, that the Super Bowl in 2020 is going to be big, they always are, haha. ;)

  15. Careful where he points. Wouldn't want to get any 'hands to the face' penalties :p

  16. I am kinda scared that Brady could go for another repeat Super Bowl win but I hope he gets blown before the playoffs.
  17. Blown, haha, that sounded funny. I would be astounded if there is anything that can stop them. They are pumping on all cylinders right now. I would give it 50/50 they win the super bowl right now. And I share your ennui of their unending domination of the NFL.

  18. Brady is currently getting carried hardcore by the defense IMO although I think the Saints are the most dominate team in the league seeing as they've held the Bears to so little yards and points AND they've racked up the points and yards on this Bears defense! I won't be surprised if the saints go 15-1 with Drew Brees back  They've showed for weeks now that they don't *need* Drew Brees but rather Brees just makes them that much better then everyone else! Sean Payton is one of the most elite Coaches in the league he is up there with Belichick! Best of luck to all your teams this season ;)
  19. While I 100% agree that the Saints are an extremely dominate team, I'm very much unimpressed by how many points they let up against the Bears, who have a notoriously bad offense. The Saints defense is very good, but this demonstrated that it has some things to be desired.

As for the Pats, yes, they seem unstoppable, but all it takes is one playoff loss to put you out. Upsets happen. I could very easily see the Bills beating the Pats in the playoffs in a big upset. The Pats offense is not good this year, and a good defensive team could lock them up.
