[SUGGESTION] Make Vault free for everyone to open

Discussion in 'Suggestion Box Archives' started by TrumanIII, Apr 16, 2019.

  1. Yup, completely agree. :)
Another option would be making it more expensive, but that seems unreasonable (unless we get some good arguments for it ;)).
  2. Can someone explain to me why there's a "tax" to simply opening your vault with less than 4 pages to begin with?

I've never understood why that's even a thing.

  3. Certainly. It's been this way for as long as I can remember. Logic:

Some players simply don't use vault frequently. So opening for 10r is a minimal cost for the convenience of moving items cross-server and also encourages players to shop same-smp for malls, etc if they want to not deal with the additional cost. For example, in the past, if a shop sold wool for 60r per stack on smp2 and I lived on smp1, but another shop sold for 60r per stack on smp1, then I would shop on my home server first before looking to cross smps.

    OR

For players who actively use vault, they have the option to INVEST 40k into expanding the vault and then retain access perms for free and shop freely on any SMP without additional cost. This is equivalent to opening your vault 4,000 times so if you plan to be an active shopper, then it makes sense. If you rarely use your vault, the 10r option is available for a cheaper investment, but with the knowledge of a per-use system.
  4. Ah, I see. Thanks for the explanation, now I understand. :)

  5. doesn't mean it makes anymore sense than it did though. 10r to open the vault isn't going to encourage anyone to shop on their own smp

  6. Feel free to offer ideas. I just wanted an understanding of why the tax existed in the first place. :)

  7. This is like saying welcome to the server every time you want to teleport somewhere it's 5r it's a useless fee that makes players dislike the server

  8. Also, I think moving between servers should actually be encouraged.
  9. Exactly if someone wants to move all of their stuff on one server to another it's gonna cost them between 10 and 100r just to move it not including un-loading it when they get there

  10. I've thought about leaving SMP6 for quite a while, but... I'm almost the only oldest player that still logs into it. :(

  11. This is a perfectly valid answer, and could end the discussion if you so desired. However, I think my original point holds some ground. It isn't the reality of the situation that is in question, but more the perception that it is a ridiculous fee, so what else is out there to be nickel and dimed on. And the reality is, this is one of the only things empire offers that costs money per transaction (the other being mail). But vault is introduced to a player VERY early on, and the fee COULD be discouraging to some; discouraging enough that it is the straw that breaks the camel's back and we lose a player that might've otherwise found a home with us!

  12. Tax 10r per minute online, 1r per block mined. That would drive the economy.
  13. I think a lot of the idea behind the vault fee is driven from the situation in which it was created. When vault was implemented, the economy as a whole was a lot more active and driven then it currently is. In addition to this, there were a lot more active players, so there were a lot of different shops on the various servers. Having the fee encouraged people to choose one server to call their home, which was important at that time.

Nowadays, the economy is pretty stagnant. Nearly all of it is driven by the promo market (which is a bit irksome, but whatever) and isn't all that controlled by item availability. There are very few large shops anymore, so switching servers to buy items has almost become a necessity.

With all that being said, and having read the responses to this thread, I think I now agree that the fee is kind of silly. Although I can see where it comes from, in the current state of the server I'm not sure it has that much of a place.
  14. Hey, that's cool, you allowed your stance to be changed. :D

  15. I would log into smp6 and build my claim of the whole SW corner of smp6 but... Current life style can't support it. Eventually I'll move back into it. As for other replys...
    That's a great idea

  16. Make it free! As a new player or a young player, you may not be focused on keeping 10r, let alone the 100r some are suggesting.

  17. Even if 10 rupees is so small, it asks the question, WHAT'S THE POINT? Seriously, if it's that small why does it exist in the first place?

  19. I might be too dumb to understand it still
  20. I agree with an earlier post. I think the original idea was to be an incentive new players to get active in the market. Unfortunately, this market has crept to the speed of a brick wall in recent times. (I've been on since early 2015, yes, things have changed drastically. I think that this tax idea is a relic from a time long ago.)

In my opinion, I think that this tax idea should be moved elsewhere, perhaps something that makes more sense or something that is currently used than to access a simple menu GUI.

Just my thoughts, take what you want from it.
