[EVENT] Parkour Giveaway

Discussion in 'Public Member Events' started by FirstJugBurgerz, Dec 17, 2017.

  1. Hey EMC! I'll keep this short and sweet. I'm opening my mall later this month and I figured that hosting a parkour event would be an awesome way for the community to have some fun during Xmas Break.

What: Parkour Races (and a brief preceding mall opening ceremony).
Who: Everyone! There will be a total of 4 races: 1 on each of the new courses I'm showcasing. The cool thing is that you do not have to be a parkour expert to have a good time. Each course follows a different format..."winning" the races guarantee good prizes but are not the only way you can win big at this event! Specific formats for each race will be announced later.
Where & When: Residence 3794 on Smp2 (/v 3794 parkour). Friday, December 29th, 4-7 PM EMC Time. Will start off with a brief opening ceremony for the two Sister Stores (3903 and 3794) and then directly proceed to the 4 Parkour races. If you would like a reminder a few days before the event so you can plan on coming, please respond and I'll put you on the Remind List (for those of you who expressed interest in the old "Parkour of Servers" thread, your names have been moved to here :)).

Prizes: As of now, at least 150k and some '14 Holiday Candles will be given away at this event. Anyone who shows up has a great chance of getting a piece of it all. ;)

Thank you everyone! I've been looking forward to hosting something like this for a long time. If you are interested, feel free to spread the word to others!
  2. Sounds great, can you stick me on the remind list? :)

  3. Just did
  4. Bumpers. Will probably post race formatting sometime in the near future. Course 4 currently being constructed, feel free to come check it out at 3794 and practice the courses already developed!
  5. We're only a week out! All interested competitors can Practice at 3794

Race 1 will take place on Course 1: Lasts 30 minutes. Competitors will receive rupee prizes according to their position on the course at the race's conclusion (meaning you don't necessarily have to complete the complete course to get the prize, you just have to be smart about where you are on the course compared to everyone else at the race's end: Furthest gets 10k, 2nd furthest gets 9k, etc.) ;) In regards to course completion, however...2014 Holiday Candles will be given to the first finisher of the main course as well as the first finisher of the Jackpot Lane :D. This course has a lot of history to it, as it hosted Parkour tournaments back in '13 and '14 and has received numerous additions to make it more challenging and fun for the competitors.

Race 2 will take place on Course 2: Lasts 30 mins. Competitors receive wool pieces which they turn in one at a time at the completion of each lap. They receive 1k on the spot for each lap they complete with a 5k cap per competitor. The facility is built for a max of 16 competitors and is ideal for parkour amateurs.

Race 3 will take place on Course 3: Lasts 20 mins. This is my signature drag racing course :p this thing is awesome and although I don't have any pics to show to you guys, it's a blast going head to head with one of your friends. Pretty simple format, competitors find a partner and race 1v1, first player to finish the course receives 1k. There's no format to this, I'll just be conducting races as I go along and handing out rupees as the races pass by. Will probably be able to get 30 or so races in that 20 minute time frame. Great for parkour pros and beginners.

Race 4 will take place on Course 4: Lasts 10 mins. Brand new course and concept behind it, but functions similar to Course 2 in that competitors turn in wool lap markers. Unlike Courses 1-3, which are designed around the idea of not failing, this one is built one around the idea of speed, with minimal obstacles designed to slow a player's lap time down and potentially fail. The best players will fly around with ease and the likely winner will be the one who doesn't make a mistake. ;) Not sure how prizes will be given out for this one yet and it is a quick race, but I think hardcore parkour racers will love competing in this, it's different than your typical parkour challenge.

Thanks for reading y'all, lot of info but I wanted to lay out the specifics for anyone who's interested :) I've been wanting to show these courses off for quite some time now. Official prize designations for each race are still being sorted out but will stay true to the original amount stated in the OP
