  1. Load up on splash heal potions when fighting momentus, when you get low just throw it at the ground. Not only does it heal you, healing potions damage undead. As such this also helps with marlix guardians and of course smite swords / a quality bow help too.

And another not so much of a tip but a suggestion - find an SMP that isn't where you have/plan on having a residence, and go set up a wilderness base. It's pretty fun to just get out of town and play around in the wild. I joined an outpost once, didn't like everything handed to me on a silver platter. It was too good. I suggest starting from scratch by yourself or with a few friends.

  2. I've learnt to always mine around iron and gold. The veins are often bigger than they seem, with one or two blocks of solid stone dividing them in two halves.
  3. I think we all know this one: you fire up Minecraft, you click on a button (like "Multiplayer") and drats... there's no sound. You quit and restart Minecraft, only to run into the same problem: no sound.

    Super annoying!

If you're using a resource pack then there might be a quick solution though. I've been using this a few times now and so far it has always worked: open your resource packs, then disable the current pack and click ok (so switch back to default). Then open it again and re-activate your resource pack.

I've encountered this situation several times now and so far resetting my resource pack has always re-enabled the sound. Although it may take a little while to load (depending on your resource pack) I think it beats having to reboot Minecraft all over again.

    • If you have a base in the wilderness and want to keep a chest safe without using a lock sign, place the chest at the bottom of a pit of lava. Chest won't burn and will be totally invisible.
    • Ink can get you quite a bit of money for minimal work due to it's demand- just find a body of water and kill a bunch of squids. Swamps are ideal due to them being deeper than most rivers but not as deep as oceans.
    • Carrying a stack of coal and a stack of sticks takes up less space in your inventory if you want torches. They only take up 2 spaces vs. 4 spaces for 4 stacks of torches

  4. Alternatively, You can hold down F3 and T at the same time for a few second as it debugs MC and restores sound. I use this when switching alts as that causes the same sound loss when switching user accounts.

  5. turn on subtitles so you can see if parrots are near...

  7. I never use @@ personally, as it can easily cause unintended situations to occur... :p
Dufne's sent me a message before that was meant to be sent to another person she was talking to.

  9. Cliche's or not.. I'm dead serious.

When you get onto the bad side of staff (for whatever reason): be honest. I know I'm addressing a perhaps controversial topic (note: this comes from someone who shared his share of criticism regarding staff too), but here's the noodle for you (this IS important): There's nothing under my name, maybe apart from a supporter status.

    Why I deem this important?

If you want to believe in conspiracy theories (for example: "staff is out to get us") then wouldn't me having a status invalidate my comment ("you don't mean that: you're afraid to lose your title!"). oooh, burn, and I'm sure some will now picture me as even more arrogant that I already was :p

Bottom line: when you get into a clash with staff: BE HONEST. If you think the moderator who banned you is out to get you: PM Krysyy. Krysyy and me don't always agree on stuff, and very sporadically I openly comment about that. But I'll also go on the record here (this is too important): I also trust Krysyy to do the right thing. She gained a helluva lot of respect from me over time for reasons which are my own.

Why the secrecy? That's something I also often ask too when I see staff share something (or not share).

Because every case is different and context can ruin stuff.

"I trust Krysyy to do the right thing"

    (example: 2 months later):

"Krysyy did someting I don't approve off"

So what is it? Didn't I say I trusted Krysyy and now I don't? Are we two fighting? Wait: Is my (never going to happen) ban because Krysyy may hate me?

    See?

    Context..

Maybe Krysyy really did something I simply didn't approve of and in stupid protest I did something against the rules which seriously got out of hand so I got banned but only for 4 days because of my legacy.

Think: "Shell got back because we protested" or "Shell got back because the 4 days were over"?

Of course I go with: "Shell never left because he knows better than to get himself banned".

And within all that context I say, once again: If you get into trouble with staff and you don't trust them, PM Krysyy but please, please, please: be honest!

    Honesty is your greatest weapon.

And yes: I speak from experience.

  10. Always wanted to be a construction worker? Then you'll want concrete!

As you may know you can craft concrete using 4 sand, 4 gravel and combining that with 1 dye (color item). This gets you concrete powder which will harden into concrete when you get it into contact with water.

So an easy way to get concrete could be this:

Powder in your off hand, pickaxe in your main and an infinite water source...

This is simple enough: place the powder in the middle, it'll turn to concrete and then dig it out with your pickaxe. Repeat until you got enough. And because your pick uses the left mouse button to dig and you place concrete with your right you can use both your main and off hand.

Although this works its also not too fast. So Merek and me came up with something else:

Make a 2x1 hole, and dump concrete powder at one end...

As you may know concrete powder, just like sand and gravel, falls down. So all you need to do to fill up that hole is continue adding concrete powder.

Then add water & quickly remove it (the water will flow down anyway):

    And dig down:

It helps to place a teleport sign at the bottom ;)

Need an even bigger design? No problem!

2 stacks of concrete powder, one water in the middle and you're ready to dig it all up. Here Merek even raised the floor a bit so that we could drop down 64 blocks in total (so this amounts for 2 stacks of blocks).

    Happy construction working :)

  11. Keep a diamond Silk Touch pickaxe in your Enderchest. That way you'll always be able to pick up your enderchest whenever you need to.
  12. Oh I do this.. but I also take like 20 ender chests with me on any adventure... Just in case I need to cut bait and hall virtual butt... Never know when a new adventure can spring up.

I won't really argree there :p I also do quite a lot of redstoning (I am pretty good at 0-tick mechanics) and it isn't that dificult to come up with things like that :p I only am really bad at slimestone, wich is the thing those guys make their mad contraptions out of :p also, I alredey knew the gnembon method before he showed it of, it is quite obvious :p
