  1. What about removing the Markdown when the shop description is displayed in the table?

Also, one more little thing: If the entirety of a shop's description fits inside the table cell, the ellipsis ("...") is still shown (even though there's no more text to display). For example, redwing2000's shop description is small, so it can fit in the table cell, but it is still given an ellipsis. An ellipsis appears for shops that have empty descriptions too (like Elizabella's).
  2. Cool! I just registered mine
  3. I wish more people would look up shops here; but at the same time, I wish shops were kept up to date here, too :p
  4. I just pmed him about this too, i forgot my passphrase and had the same exact same problem:oops: i think I was one of the first shops on the smp6 list...
  5. I'm still waiting on the email I sent over a month ago about my (now defunct) shop because I forgot the passphrase for it.
  6. I don't know about other people, but I hardly use this website any more. Maybe if there was some in game integration....
  7. raenis seems to have disappeared :(
  8. This fails pretty much.
No one ever uses it, there is no moderation at all, there are no website clean-ups ever (which means that shops that don't even exist are listed there as "mega shops"
Raenis never camed back and the design it's pretty unusable for mobile devices.
  9. copherfield what's your point. raenis put a lot of hard work into this
  10. I'm sorry I haven't been very active lately. I've had a whole lot of stuff coming up in life lately that has kept me from paying much time to MC and the Shop Database. Once things are settled down more, I'll be back to it. I appreciate that most of you are being patient with me about it.

As for you, Copherfield, I'm sorry that it doesn't work very well on your mobile device, but it wasn't designed to be used with mobile devices. I'll be back around to give it more TLC once I'm able. Let's try not being condescending and instead provide constructive criticism.
  11. No one ever uses it? Try being multiple people before you start making unfounded arguments like that. I use it quite a bit, and whenever someone is looking for an item that no one connected sells, I direct them to the shop database.
  12. Just because I said that now EVERYBODY uses it. LOL.
I see that no-one read the rest of the post I made, seems like critics are not allowed here.
  13. Seeing as you complained that I did not read your whole post (which I did) I will commence to prove you wrong by individually shooting down each of your points.
This is hard to prove. However, there are over 19 pages of shops, and more than 3 pages of shops have been added or updated since I updated mine one week ago.
Does there really need to be? Are people spamming in all caps, griefing, stealing, or PvPing on the site? Sure, they may be lying about things in their shops, but does raenis really have the time to go theough every single entry and check to see if they have an item? I think not.
Raenis has been busy. And if their shop lies about something, make note of it, and don't come back. There are many other shops you can go to rather than whine about a select few.
Some of us have lives, as she mentioned.
Well, I'm sorry, but as raenis said, it's not designed that way yet.
  14. Seems interesting how you attempt to defend his position, i think it's time for me to defend mine, just like in a debate.

Actually, there is no way for us to proove when was what updated or not. Yes there are 19 pages of shops with 20 shops each (19x20 = 380) but if we go for real and visit at least half of them we will see that maybe the shops are not even longer on that residence (or the player leaved EMC) or they don't actually exist <-- That's proove of no moderation/cleanup btw.
Also, the purpose of the website (No spam at the chat regarding commercial activities) was not successful (i don't really need to prove this, mainly because you can see it in chat any time).

No, people is not spamming, griefing, stealing or PvPing on the site (that's actually a very stupid phrase, how can people do that on a website?) BUT people is creating fake shops, putting stuff as "high" stock when they may not even have it, people is putting as description "mega shop" when it's only a dirt shack (ask oleyy about) and people is putting "cheapest prices in...." when the prices are exorbitant. Moderation is not only in-game or for in-game activities, is a way to control a trustworthy environment with no rulebreakers around.

So i have to make note of what shops are bad or not and loose my time with it? what if raenis set up a group of moderators to do that? it's that so hard?
Also, if he is very busy he should have let that on note before leaving (as i do for example with the Delta team project)

IDK if you attempted to state that i have "a life" but i don't actually have to justify that or not, 'cause it's my life and no-one is person enough to contradict anything i do with it.

Now, considering i don't have a life and that i put 20h of my day into minecraft and forums, that has anything to do with the fact that i have a project going on and that i have to take care of it?

I will put DT as example again, having DT is not only making the website, setting up the server, setting ranks up, making a base and creating a forum post and then leaving (I got reports from old AS members that it was exactly what happened there but i won't discuss that here)

Do me a favour and check http://emcwiki.org on your phone.
Is it impossible to check around that on a mobile phone?
Well, i made that in less than 3 hours (fixing bugs and etc took me 1h) and i don't know about you but i can move around with 0 troubles.

i'm not attempting to create a discussion here, it's just a debate guys (actually, i've saw secret some times and we have a friendly relation) so don't come here all "OMG STOP THE ACCUSATIONS" 'cause there is nothing to see here.
  15. The idea of a directory for shops is great, but it needs to be easier to use than shouting "who sells diamond?". I think that integrating a sales and services subforum to the emc website would keep the content fresh and reliable. I know that there is the "community marketplace" but it is limited in its capability and does not provide everyday materials.
  16. I think that the solution is not a website, and i kinda agree with loui on the fact that shouting "who sells x" is easier than opening the web-browser --> typing emcshops.org --> typing on the search bar --> going to each of the shops that appear on the screen.

Edit: Maybe making a shop directory in-game?
Running a command like /buy diamond
Would bring you to a list of registered shops that sell diamonds
and /sell diamond to a list of registered shops that buy diamonds.
Using the command /createshop buy (itemlist here: 1,4,5,2,24,65,6) and /createshop sell (itemlist here)

That would be epic and would totally help a bunch.
  17. Here we go, this is somewhere near of what we could use: http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/boutique_plugin/
  18. If I'm not mistaken, a shop listing is automatically deleted if the shop owner does not login for 10 days (similar to EMC's derelict policy). This helps to weed out the inactive shops.

If shops are bending the truth about their prices or their stock levels, that's bad advertising and customers don't appreciate that. Personally, if I see a shop describing itself as "mega" and I visit the shop to find only 5 different items on sale, I'm not going to visit the shop again. It's been suggested before that a "like" button be added for each shop to allow people to rate the shop (like how you can "like" forum posts). I think this would really help to make the good shops stand out.
  19. I decided to actually start a PRO shop database, this will have the help of Oleyy and other awesome people.
The link will be this http://www.mcdeltateam.com/shop/ <--- There we will make the project.
I will add an auction system as soon as we finish the details, but we are looking forward to make a PRO database of the EMC shops, with moderation, prices, photos and more.
Obviously we will not let everyone in, and the content will be written by us, if you recieve the invitation you will be part of it, if not, then no.
  20. This sounds great.
When I cant find items, I use one shop which has a tp to another, to another...... Sometimes I even add a portal in my own shop to theirs if its good! This is as far as I can realistically see shop listing in game.
