  1. This was covered in another thread

  2. I got burnned by lava too i was minning diamonds and someone sneeked behind me and poured lava. I was very upset, but I got over it. I never knew that people would go that diamond crazy:confused:
  3. i just laugh at people blatently breaking the rules then asking to be unbanned thinking they are in the right ...
Well they arnt good day sir .
  4.

    I was afraid of that...

    ...ouch
  5. Guys, I think you should unban him. Yes, he didnt read the guide, but also, its christmas and what he did wasnt really bad. I mean, the guy they set alight probably didnt have anything diamond on them. And besides, if you keep on banning people, then I guess no-one is gonna be able to mplay on the empire anymore. It is the best part of minecraft, too. And dark_liz, sorry if I was being arsey about getting banned, its just empirecraft is the bestest server ever. So good luck, Axel_Axel.
  6. I'm sorry but by that logic we should just let anyone who's ever committed a violent crime and is in jail out in the streets today, if their victims didn't have any money on them at the time. I'm not sure if you're aware of the numbers in Minecraft or not, but, I don't think the millions of players out there are going to mind that we're keeping the Empire free of people being douchbags...in fact, we've been told it's one of our selling points.

  7. I guess...
and bytheway, how can i apply to be a mod?
and bythewayagain, I was banned unfairly, and people are being pritty mean. I have contacted an admin though. SMP1 rocks and i reallywant to go back on. And the reason why i got banned is because my friend got into my acount and basically was swearing constantly at a supportter. I really wanna go back on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! T_T
  8. I mean, admin or mod or whatevers up for offer
  9. You can't be a mod. Players who are banned, obviously can't be a moderator. You were not banned unfairly. Your account, which is your responsibility, broke the rules. Therefore, your account was banned. It seems using real life examples is the best thing to do with some people, so here I go again.

You borrow your friend your car. He goes and, for whatever reason, parks it on the sidewalk illegally somewhere. Guess who gets the ticket...the owner of the car. Calling the police and telling them, "but it was my friend!" won't fix the punishment.

  10. "This is a hard saying, who can understand it?"

+allmyinternets if you know what that's from. I think it's very applicable to this situation. The rules are hard, but just. They can't just go around making exceptions for others mistakes, cause then EVERYONE would have a sob story about how their friend was using their acc. to grief.

Personally, I've seen these kinds of complaints quite often on other MMO's and most of the time it's the same person breaking the rules over and over again, then trying to get away with it by saying "but it wasn't me!"

So, long story short, sorry bud, you're out. I'll go put some flowers on your grave. :( ...ASD

  11. sorry
  12. I think it pretty much did. Just post signs saying "WARNING: My stuff, no touchy". If they ignore that, then they deserve what they get: A long drop and a sudden stop (bedrock).

  13. Very much agree with this. If it's not grieving or stealing if it's in the wild, then it's not PvP if, when you open my chest to take my stuff, you fall into a pit of fire. You didn't steal my hard-earned resources, and I didn't kill you.

Watching someone grief your house in the wild without being able to stop them is bad enough... all the screen shots in the world aren't going to restore the hours of labor and massive amount of resources you spent on making a place to be proud of. Still, as a law-abiding citizen of the Empire, we all understand that burning someone is against the rules. There aren't a lot of other options besides screaming for help and taking the pictures... however, people accidentally fall down mineshafts every day in the wild - what can I say, it's a dangerous place.

Lets look at it from the griever’s point of view for a minute. Say you are venturing out into the wild... far far out, as to try to get away from all the mined-out caverns near the spawn points. When you finally settle on a spot and start digging your mine, you stumble upon a cavern which has obviously been carved out by a player. Suddenly, the curious part of you takes over and you decide to see where this cavern leads. Along the way, you notice that this might be more than just a diamond mine. There are decorations, evenly-carved stone hallways and even glowstone lighting. You come upon a room with a bed in it, and several chests... maybe even some furnaces and a crafting table. You feel the rush of adrenaline go through you as that menacing urge takes hold, and you look around to be sure you are alone. All the good sense and knowledge imparted to you from dutifully reading the Empire Guide exits your brain as your curiosity becomes overpoweringly strong with one question:

    What's in the box???

In the back of your mind you know that it's against the rules to steal from other people. You know it's immoral to grief a fellow citizen's work... still, you can't help yourself. Your fingers seem to move independently from what your mind is thinking. Before you know it you are staring into a chest full of loot - two stacks of diamonds, a stack of slimes and another of blaze rods, lots of redstone and a few sticky pistons. You figure you've already gone this far, and no one's here to prove it was you... so you snatch them all up, feeling a bit guilty but extremely fortunate in your "mining" expedition. You tell yourself, "It's not stealing - it's in the wild! The wild is free game!" in an attempt to quell your feelings of guilt. Besides, this stuff will probably sell for a fortune, and you will finally be able to build that house of solid gold and iron blocks you always dreamed of!

Suddenly, your dreams are interrupted by a strange feeling... you're floating. NO - The screen is moving too quickly... you're FALLING! Fear takes hold as you look down to see if you'll survive the fall. You don't see a bottom, and frantically begin to hope there is water below. Your life flashes before your eyes and then the screen goes red, and you're staring at the respawn button.

You know it's your own fault, but you are so angry! You were at level 38, and planning to get that silk touch enchantment you want so badly when you got back from that trip! You could swear you heard the sound of pistons moving before your fall began, but you can't be sure... you were too focused on your successful mission. Still, if it was pistons that would be PvP! You go to empireminecraft.com to rage on the forums about how you were killed in the wild by a vicious, rule-breaking dirtbag, omitting the part where you "discovered" the stash of loot you were carrying home when you fell to your death in the wild. Many people on the forums agree with you, and tell you that if you had a screen shot or could otherwise prove who killed you, they would be punished severely... but it's no use. That doesn't help your lost experience points, or the diamond tools and amour that were actually YOURS when you died. -sigh- Minecraft is such a frustrating game! You rage quit for a week and play MW3.

    -BREAK-

Of course this example is detailed to the point of nausea, but I think the point has been made. PvP has been restricted in a very good way in our Empire. I can't punch you in the face, or make my wolf attack you because you said something mean to me or stole a customer from my store. The only thing we could do to take it further would be banning lava buckets - trust me when I say that we are about as safe as we are like to get.

My fellow Empire citizens - despite the specifics of any one circumstance, I have only this to say about 'traps' in the wild and PvP: I will not shed a tear for those with malice in their hearts. If you find an obvious home in the wild and attempt to steal from or destroy it, you deserve what's coming to you. If it were my home and I were there to see it happen, I'd drop you in a pit of creepers if I could. This is, unfortunately, not an option in our Empire. To quote someone more intelligent than I, "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure." If you go looking for someone's private home in the wild with the intent to take their treasures for your own, you'd better pray you don't stumble into mine.

  14. All I'm going to say about this is:

If people are caught stealing or destroying other people's stuff in the Wilderness, or in Town, they will be banned. You have the ability to prevent this from happening in Town.

If people are caught intentionally harming other players, directly or indirectly, they will be banned as well.

There is no need for violence; retaliation in this context is futile and meaningless.

    Also, the statement:

"It's not griefing or stealing if you gave permissions or left it in the Wild."

    ...is not accurate at all.
  15. I second that.
Nobody would be banned for griefing / stealing if this was not the case.

  16. If/When we come up with a viable way to do the locked chests plugin, the wild stuff will be taken care of for the most part.

The issue with the leaving a sign saying it's "yours" is another person can just remove that sign, and an unknowing person could just walk into a trap unknowingly.

  17. Want to protect something in the wild? Say it belongs to a Moderator.

It really works, you know. People will avoid it like plague. (In my experience and that of Scarligmione.)

  18. LOL, best solution ever.

However onto the original discussion of the thread. Using fire or lava to kill someone is quite clearly PvP. If your actions injure another player, then I don't see your argument against this. Otherwise manslaughter cases wouldn't exist...
  19. My final word on this: if you EVER try to steal from one of my chests, it will not be a pleasant experience!

You won't be able to prove it was me, but there will be not a doubt in your mind that it belongs to someone else.

And you will have no one to blame but yourself for what happens afterwards.
