Laptop's cooling issue has been slightly improved, but not enough to really play. I give up. I'll just use this little machine for business, turn it off when it gets too hot, and get as much life out of it as I can for its original purpose: Work and school, not games. I tried. :(

For the most part, yeah. Occasional sign-ins to check things and say hello, before things get super lit. :L

It runs okay now, at 2-chunk distance, 30fps, w/ very few mobs on screen. Probably runs okay with more, but this baby has to last.

Ah, that's about how I used to play. :P
No wonder I got lost so easily...

Laptop was received, the screws were dealt with, and the cooling was inspected. It was surprisingly clean inside, but the thermal paste was a bit thin. A new "grain" has been applied and has been given a chance to settle overnight. We'll test it out tomorrow, and have a verdict.

Finally drove my laptop to the computer center. They said they've dealt with stubborn screws before and can get them all loose tomorrow for $30. It might seem silly to pay for that, but if you tried unscrewing these screws ... you'd get it. Should be returning to smp1 soon. :D

Status update: Thermal paste nearly here, but I can't actually open the laptop after all; two vital tiny screws *might* require a #00 Phillips screwdriver, even tough the #0 can get in ... without budging them at all. We'll try smaller screwdrivers, and possibly a tiny drill.

I miss seeing you around smp1 and going on adventures and experiencing kinetic energy.

Hi there! Sadly, I'll be offline for some time. :( A cooling issue with my laptop prevents me from playing, without risking an overheated CPU and damaged parts. Will still check in on forums, direct messages, and Discord. Thanks for your patience and take care this week!

Not entirely sure. The fan won't revolve faster than 1799 RPM, so and appears stuck between 1719-1799 RPM. It used to go faster. I tried blowing out the vents w/ compressed air, and barely anything came out. No unusual noises either.

I tried taking the frame bottom completely off, but some screws won't budge and I don't want to risk stripping them if there's a safer way. It's a Lenovo Thinkpad E460, still on warranty for 18 more months.

I'm planning to call up customer service and find a licensed repair shop tomorrow - if they don't simply advise me how to do so without voiding the warranty. - Bech
