  1. Hello,

Someone told me about communities / outpost in the wild, readed a bit about it on the forum.
But there still so many question. you cant stop with MC and still only at the bottom of the mountain.
Still not complete sure on wich place (/frontier ?) you can setup outpost.

How do you know your 5000 blocks away from EMC
How do you kow your 3000 blocks away from other estebalished group ?

Never found a ruler on the map.
Expect that a outpost exists until the next server update ? or doies it keep alive ?

Im sure i have more question, but since someone told about it, its not going out of my mind.
But missing a bit more info,

    is better protected ?
what are the limites (ok i know 250 animals, right ?)

Well this my firts post on the forum, and about this topic am sure more follow.

  2. You can use your coordinates to check you are over 5000 blocks from EMC spawn,
You can msg a staff member after you lock a chest to check you are away from others.
The wastelands reset every update, but the frontier stays, so build in there.
Your base is better protected, yes.
And on the animals, if you go above 250 new animals will start replacing old animals, basically old ones will disappear.

Frontier AKA Wilderness - Is not reset, ever. For building long term communities, bases (establish wilderness base here). Try not to mine up massive amounts of blocks leaving a big mess behind.
Wastelands - Resets whenever required, do not expect any advance notice. For mining massive amounts of resources, don't worry about leaving a mess, mine whatever you need. Recommend you don't build or leave anything in this world.

How do you know your 5000 blocks away from EMC
You can press F3 to bring up debug mode, and see your coords. Compare your position to that off the closes outpost/spawn point. (NB. all Wilderness outposts are at the 10k mark of whatever direction from the Main spawn aprox(0,0)). So North outpost would be at coord (0,-10k)
How do you kow your 3000 blocks away from other estebalished group ?
Use the livemap to check your location, and look for any 'visually established bases' within 3k of you. If you can't see anything, apply for a Wilderness base claim, and staff can check again for you.

Never found a ruler on the map.

Wilderness will not reset. If more outposts are added to the world, they will be so far away from any players base, it won't affect any claims.

Empire protection system won't be here until after Dragon Tombs, at that time, protecting an area can have great benefits yes. :) But for now, just keep your base hidden to avoid unwanted guests.

  5. Oh, can you lock chests in the wilderness / frontier ? or is there other way to store items safe ?

  6. Chests can be locked for 1000 rupees. Put [LOCKED] on the first line of a sign directly above a chest, and then your name on the second line. Good luck

  7. Yes, cddm95ace told you how to lock chests. Of course in chests on your residence items are safe too, and you can put them in your vault. (if you don't know what that is: /help vault) You can't go to town or acces your vault in the wilderniss though, so locked chests may be better. Or you could hide your chests, but then there is a chance people will still find them.

  8. Do not over complicate the 'lock' process. People have failed to lock chests doing it that way (spelling errors, etc).

    How to lock a chest:
On the First Line, write: lock

That's it, done. nothing else needed. You do not need to write your name, it's automatic.
You may add up to 2 players to the chest by typing their names onto Line 3 & 4 of the sign when locking it.

You can lock chests in the Wilderness/Frontier of the Overworld and Nether.
You CANNOT lock chests in the Wastelands of the Overworld and Nether.
You can lock chests in The End. (NB: the wasteland and wilderness end portal lead to the same End world)
In Town, only those with 'container' flag may access your chests, and by default, that is turned off. (Or you can place an 'access' sign above a chest with a players name for them to access it).

  9. this is maby wrote a bit cunfusing.

Are enderchest multi server ? with iron supporter you only have 1 residence. so you cannot place chest on 2 servers.
If i understand it right you can transfer with enderghest goods from 1 chest to other chest in the same smp server ?
so you can place 1 enderchest in wilderness home and one on your town residence you offcorse dont have with iron on other server.

I have read it somewhere yesterday, enderghest are good to carry with you
becasue its extra storage, not sure how it works between servers.

I like the idea to have wilderness on other server, because you can swithc easy between town fun and wilderness fun.
But not sure how to transfer blocks between both servers and wilderness in easy way.

  10. The only way to transfer items between servers is using you /vault
Ender chests only work within same server.

You can use Any Ender chest you find (There is an ender chest at every town spawn, and every wild/waste outpost, as well as many elsewhere.

Yes, whatever YOU put into an Ender chest, YOU are able to remove from any ender chest on that server. And no other person can access YOUR stuff from any ender chest.

A Silk Touch pick will drop an enderchest when you break it. (As opposed to a bunch of obsidian using any other pick). So people carry an enderchest, and a silk pick to access their enderchest any time. If you die, and drop all your gear into lava, you will loose your ender chest, and anything else in your inventory. But items inside the enderchest are safe, and can be taken out from any ender chest anywhere. So people use this method to transport valuables through the wild/waste without risk of loosing them. Also an extra chest of storage.

To transfer items from the wild on one server to town on another, you will have to manually transport items from the wild to town of same server, then use /vault to transfer items between the town worlds of different servers.

NB: /vault only work in the Town world of any server.

  11. As far as I know, Enderchests arent multiserver. The reason as to why they are good to carry with you is this. Say I am out on one of my nether trips to gather materials. My inventory is getting full. Oh wait I brought my trusty enderchest. Now I have more room in my inventory, and if I die. The stuff will stay in the enderchest for me to access later at either the same, or a different ender chest.

I dont know how long you have owned minecraft, but I will explain how the enderchest works anyway. The enderchests are similar to vault, but it doesnt go through servers. Every enderchest you open will contain the contents you have previously put in any other enderchest.
Example: I am in town preparing for a trip to the wastelands. I want to go super far out, but I dont want to lose my best gear on the way there. I throw my best gear in my enderchest at my res. Then I venture out to the wastelands with another (or the same) enderchest. When I get to my location I place the enderchest, and take out my gear.
Edit: NZ beat me... I left my computer for a few minutes lol

  12. Thanks, yes. i just figured a few things out to enderchest work between different places, wasteland, wilderness , town as long your on the same server. say smp5. hope this is correct.

Uhmm pickaxe with silk touch. and not found the right book. other thing we need to figure out.
ANd yes, not playing minecraft very long, its for me the real survival way. i learned the basics. and everything else you learn when you grow :)
  13. Just spotted one problematic side effect. lots of wilderness is still undiscovered. thats good. but you also leaves a trail behind.

OH. but if you use enderchest in town. then everybody can access your items you put in to ?!
  14. No. only you can access the items you place in your chest.

  15. hint for others, correct me when wrong.

You can use the location on livemap to see how many blocks your away from EMC as example. a bit more work.
  16. Well actually frontier and wastelands are different worlds, but yes you can see about how many blocks you are away from the spawns that teleport you back to town.
  17. Well, the plan get shape. it looks like its going to be a one way trip on different server. once in the wild its long trip back. :)

But, is there a way to show the wilderness live map without doing /map show ?
  18. You can view the livemap any time by going to the forums -> Servers -> View livemap - then just moving the map to your coordinates.
  19. Guys, you are posting too much smart stuff. Let us dumb it down for people like me.
