  1. So, its about time i start considering getting a new laptop. after playing battlefield 3 and having mine get to 183F and close BF3 to keep from shutting down, i realized HP does NOT make good laptops.

    My Current Laptop: http://Tinyurl.com/dylanslaptop

    What I'm looking for:
    • 12+ RAM
    • 750+ Hard drive
    • as for the graphics card, something REALLY good.
    • 15.6+ display
    • HAS to be a laptop.
    • Needs an HDMI port
    • Price Range: 400-1600$
    • WINDOWS 7
    Things i wont do

    • Buy a Mac.
    • Buy another HP laptop.
    • Build a PC
    • Get a desktop
I'm looking into this because it suits my needs and has great reviews: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B005WPUN32...TF8&colid=2HL40CHIKA2H4&coliid=I1G6HSADNWBNVU

  2. What do you think you will need an i7 for jeeze!!!!!!
And it's only clocked at 2.2 ghz I have a pc I paid £500 pounds for and it's clocked
at 4.7. You will not get your moneys worth if you buy that laptop.
(also the ram is the equivalent to ddr2 ram which isn't anywhere near as fast as ddr3)
  3. i chose it because of one of the reviews, im not a total computer geek, i just want to be able to play my games without overheating.

Updated OP for price range. ill look around, tell you if i find anything i like.
  4. Updated OP
  5. Is there a specific reason for why you want a laptop?

And I think that you should get a crappy laptop and a decent desktop instead.

"good" laptops are expensive and all parts are mobile parts. You can get a much better desktop for same price :3
  6. i dont want a desktop. as i said, im looking for a good laptop, price is not an issue, as im not getting this overnight. its more of a long term goal kinda thing.
  7. image.jpg
  8. I don't really have "knowlegde" with good laptops since they have mobile parts, but try this one:
    MSI GT70 2OC-050NE
  9. I just did a quick Google search for best gaming laptops 2013 and saw this. I didn't read all of the article but what I glanced over seemed good for you.
  10. i saw that when looking through amazon, decided against it ( might reconsider ) i just really like the MSI laptops, back lit keyboard and stuff' its the little bits that count.
  11. Do you want to be able to play next gen games on this laptop?
If so then you will be paying a lot more than 1000 dollars, if you're still set on
buying a laptop, also why not a pc?
  12. That graphics card is lacking, even though it has 2gb. MSI is a good brand though (was going to get one before I got my Elitebook (an actually good HP)), I haven't heard much against them.

I would go with the above, if you are looking for a 17.3 incher.
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812797002
I believe that what I linked you is what they are trying to sell you, but I would look more into it if I were you. USB display adapters get iffy reviews from what I have seen, but this one looks nice. The laptop I linked has HDMI, VGA and a mini-displayport. I would personally skip out on the USB adapter for now, since with the laptop display, HDMI, and the mini-displayport, you can have three screens up at once. Mini-displayport --> HDMI conversion cables can be bought on Newegg for good prices.

I use the above, and it worked fine for me (and my old laptop used to get very hot). Its nice because you can put the three fans exactly where the fans on the underside of the case are.
But, if you are into 200mm blue fans, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834992913
It has good reviews, and is a good brand. :p
Since you are only getting win7 Home, I would instead get the 16gb ram pack that is 4x4, rather than 2x8, you save some money ($75). With the laptop I linked, if you dont get the USB display adapter, it is around $1800 total (with the above ram configuration), and the graphics card is a monster.

Generally, since you want a killer laptop, I would never dip below a GTX760. :)

    Hopefully this can help. :)

If I missed anything, or any math is wrong, please correct me!:D
  13. im a horribly picky person. lol updated op again >.<

the laptop you linked, has 8gb ( im looking for more 12 or 16 )
it also has windows 8, which i wont ever be using. although it does look like the one i wanted...
  14. im not ever going to buy another HP laptop.. besides, thats windows 8.

  15. It still has the main desktop from windows 7, it just has more now >.>
You may want to just visit some electronic stores to find a good laptop for you then. And ask for gaming computers, not school computers >.<
  16. considering most new laptops will have windows 8 you don't have much of a choice. Plus windows 8 isn't bad at all. It ia basicly windows 7 with the start menu being promoted to a screen. I personally find it perfect on a mouse and keyboard. Definately don't base your desision off of that.
