This is the first and only grinder I've ever built. It has three spawn floors. I've used it for a few months now. I had become tiered of looking at sand so I decided to church it up a bit. Unfortunately the level up rate is slower that I'd like. Enjoy. P.S. if you know how I can post pictures without re-sizing every one I'd love to know.
That seems really nice! I will be upset if its greifed... Also when you say Enjoy! Do you mean that people are aloud to use it or to enjoy the pics?
Enjoy the pics . Getting greifed is just part of it. Once I had the roof complete I had the realization that one strike of flint and steel would bring it all down. Oh well.
If you ever come across this configuration, I may have been there. It can yield 50+ melons at a time. With an infinite water source in the middle. I will add mushrooms for color though. Mushrooms are great for nether exploration.
Now all you need to do is add some villagers as employees Oh, and I like how you put sand on the roof so that it looks like normal desert in flat live map
Heres an idea, you could build a flat square above the grinder out of cobblestone, and then place sand on top, then people looking on the live map will not be able to see this
It looks like she's already done that, Happy, but it's on the roof. Is that a zombie in the fourth picture? Do you have problems with mobs spawning in the shadow this produces?
Sorry for the double post. I did try to edit. I also noticed the zombie. I'm not sure if it lagged out or if it spawned out. Next time I'm on I'll check it out.
Oops. Did you see my earlier question regarding the zombie in the fourth picture? Do you have anything in place to control mobs spawning in the shadow your grinder casts?
See above, and only a few blocks of glow stone. My biggest issue right now is mobs spawning under me in caverns. Any idea how far to the left and right they can spawn from me? I think it's 100 blocks or so. I've been trying to light them up.
I think posted while you were. Wiki says this about spawning. Bukkit may be different: Mobs spawn naturally within a 15x15 chunk (240x240 block) area around the player. However, mobs that spawn further than 128 blocks from any player will immediately despawn (see Despawning), so the mob spawning area is effectively limited to spheres with a radius of 128 blocks, centered at each player. I've heard that a lot of natural grinders are built much higher than yours appears to be for this reason.
By the way Vivid, sorry about calling you a "she" earlier. Now I'm just not sure you're old enough to play...
