You pay £6 a month to YouTube to get rid of advertisements (cutting off the main source of income for YouTubers). £3 goes to YouTube, a portion of the remaining £3 gets split between every YouTuber you watch.
It's actually a much better for YouTubers than it actually sounds. They take 45% anyway (or 65% - can't remember which way around it is), but the fact I THINK it's counting ALL Red views as "Monetised Views" means they'll get more.
From what I've heard, it doesn't work out well for YouTubers with clips mashed together and shorter videos. And a lot of YouTubers have been having CPMs drop, and Red will only make them drop faster.
