  2. I just completed infrastructure to a "Halfway point" on my trip to live in the wild!
It cost me a Fortune I pickaxe, but I can now get out to the halfway point in about 10 mins lol...

I haven't found where im gonna settle down yet, namely as because my current location is in the middle of the ocean! not sure where ill find land.
  3. living in the wild is awesome fun...especially with friends on teamspeak \o/

  4. Indeed! ^_^
  5. If you live in the wild, please respond to this thread with one or more of the following:

    • Which server you have your wild camp on : SMP1
    • Type of Biome you prefer to live in : Forrest
    • If you live alone/with others : Alone
    • Why you prefer to live in the wilderness : More of a challenge
    • Pictures! : Imagine a 8x8x3 wooden box with a grass roof covered by trees.
    • What kind of things you prefer to do for fun or profit : Fun
    • Tell us what you've accomplished or what kind of project you are working on : Underground wheat, melon and pumpkin farm. Sheep and pig pen. Converted two dungeons into xp farms unfortunately they are about 6 blocks too far apart to be used simultaneously. Attempt to make a slime pit but so far only one slime has ever spawned in it. Made a route from Town -> Wilderness -> outpost -> Nether portal -> long walk -> Nether base with netherwart farm -> bit more of a walk -> Nether portal -> Wilderness base.
    • Anti-griefing strategies you utilize : Base is almost invisible on live map. Route has lots of wrong turns. Correct route in nether appears blocked by lava. Xp farms can be switched off making them silent.
I have some ideas on making my base safe from accidental discovery. These include making portal pairs a short distance from my base so that anyone making a portal with 750 blocks of my base portal doesn't get linked to it's nether end but to one of the ones away from my base.
I am also thinking of having a lava wall crossing my route through the nether. I will need to walk through the lava to proceed but will find a water pool of the other side to keep me safe.

I don't mind curious explorers visiting but sadly griefers are curious too, so I have to use techniques that discourage the curious.
  6. I dont think it would be wise to put these in here, due to griefers... but anyways just me babling some old stories =D
  7. As long as no one posts their coords i don't see why it would be an issue. :p

  8. I have a res on SMP2, but when I leave an area, it gets griefed harder than Justin Bieber's email account. I swear that a group of friends built a bunch of mushroom huts that got obliterated later on. Just check the South outpost -- and we had a sign saying, "no griefing"

Ironically, I spend 2% on my residence and 98% on the Wild. Huh.
  9. I put no griefing signs on my things too, but I think it's like having a giant red button saying "don't push".

  10. How about when locking chests give 2nd access to, say, JustinGuy. It might just cause a casual griefer to rethink griefing an area where Admin appear to hang out. Ok you are letting Justin have access to your chest but I think it is safe. Yikes!, imagine someone with admin powers being a griefer.

  11. Somehow I think Justin can access your chests with or without adding him to the list :)
  12. Yes, He has already got access but adding his name you are giving him permission. If he wanted to he could clean out your chest with his admin powers which is abuse of his powers. Giving him permission allows him to empty your chest legitimately and is only abuse of your trust (I say only as, sadly, trust no longer has much meaning).
Either way I highly doubt Justin would abuse anyone's trust.
  13. cept if he wants a diamond he can just spawn one... :p
  14. And a warning to others in the wild. I was alerted someone was in my secret nether tunnel last night... thankfully it was a new player who was essentially lost and didnt know how to get home, so i got him out.

But It alerted me to the fact my Nether Portals were linking up incorrectly! A portal I knew was compromised and not hard to find was linking to my secret one....

    so check your portals!

I also will be changing some of my practices and not be putting portals directly in my tunnels anymore.
  15. Yeah reading up on portals. Wilderness portals will link to the nearest active nether portal within 128 of where the nether side portal should be (or the nether side of a wilderness portal within 1024 blocks, not 750 as I said in earlier post). If there are none it will create a new nether side portal. It is the same in reverse.

I am going to put useless portal around both my main nether portal and the main wilderness portal. Any new portals will link to these.
  16. I only have one portal, in the nether, and in my town, More secure, even if you put 10 portals, they are all in the same area-ish which makes its look like someone is trying to hide something

Also, Im making a huge lava curtain all round my nether base, it's a small island so it wont be hard
  17. In the nether I'll have one directly on the main path the others will be out of sight. The wilderness ones I can space out far more and make them appear semi-used.
Buy some ice from the empire shop at 50r each. You then can break it in the nether for a water source which will put you out if on fire.
  18. i found some 1s cool fort on smp4 really nice looking
  19. Hello all!
    • My wild camps are currently on SMP5, but I'll probably end up exploring other servers to some degree or another (especially Utopia, since I now have access).
    • I don't have a huge biome preference - swamp if I had to choose. I'd like to have little outposts in various biomes at some point. :)
    • I live alone - I'm sort of a newb at multiplayer, and part of the appeal of the wild is independence and solitude.
    • I don't live primarily in the wilderness - I'd say more like 50/50 between town and wild. I keep all of my most important things/building in town for security/convenience reasons. But I do have "homes" in the wild - obviously there's resource collection, but also just exploration and the thrill of it. I guess part of the appeal is the lack of safety.
    • Sorry, no pics yet! I haven't progressed much yet anyways. Not to mention most of my stuff is more underground, and doesn't look pretty (yet).
    • Profit is fun and fun is profit to me! I like collecting things, and building cool things.
    • Well, I basically start off with a goal which leads to five other goals which leads to five others, and so on. For example: I want to get a bunch of brick for my house back in town. That means getting a ton of clay. I'd like to go farther out, so I want to build a base of some kind for convenience's sake. But I want the base to be kind of cool and relatively safe. And then I stumble upon an abandoned mine shaft. And then I want to explore it. And I could go on forever!
    • Not too much at this point. My biggest post is relatively close to spawn, so I keep it pretty darn sparse and mostly collect resources. However, I have bigger plans for my next project. Basically, I try to not be too showy above ground, go far away, and turn off my presence on the live map when I reach my base.
  20. Well, Where my place is. There is STACKS of clay. Literally. Sweep the seas dry for me? :D
